CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Temple University invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair, Department of Mechanical Engineering. The College of Engineering is in the midst of a major faculty recruiting effort designed to increase the number of faculty by 25%. The new Chair of Mechanical Engineering will participate in this recruitment drive. The department is poised for growth, and offers B.S.E., M.S. Bioengineering, M.S.E., and Ph.D. degrees and has more than 200 students (part- and full-time). The department seeks candidates with effective interpersonal and managerial skills and a strong vision of the future of engineering education and research. We are particularly interested in leaders with interests in interdisciplinary research and industry/university relationships.
The successful candidate for the position must have a proven record of professional and academic leadership, a portfolio of externally funded research, and significant experience in undergraduate and graduate education. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; other related engineering doctorates will be considered. Desirable areas of research expertise include Biomechanics, Design, and Solid Mechanics. FACULTY POSITIONS, DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for several outstanding individuals to join the department as tenured or tenure-track faculty. This is part of a major faculty recruitment effort in the College of Engineering to boost the number of tenure-track faculty by 25%. Individuals are being sought with expertise in the areas of: Biomechanics, Bio-Mems, Nanotechnology, and Machine Design.
Successful candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Bio-Engineering, to have or to be able to develop significant research programs, and to provide effective instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels in mechanical engineering. Appointments are possible at all academic levels appropriate to experience; senior faculty candidates are invited to consider bringing a group. Applications from candidates whose research is interdisciplinary are particularly encouraged. Opportunities exist for collaboration with outstanding faculty in the School of Medicine and the College of Science and Technology. Joint courtesy appointments are available. Salaries for new faculty are highly competitive and resources have been allocated for start-up.
The College of Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate (MS, MSE, PhD) degrees in Mechanical, Electrical and Computer, and Civil and Environmental Engineering.
