Temple
University is a world-class center of teaching, research and health care.
From its roots in the historic and cultural richness of Philadelphia,
Temple has become a major international university, with successful, long-standing
campuses in Tokyo and Rome, and educational programs spanning the globe.
Temple is the 39th largest university in the United States. It also is
the largest provider of professional education (law, dentistry, medicine,
and podiatric medicine) in the country.
But what really sets Temple University apart from other institutions of
higher learning is its people - a faculty of 1,700 dedicated men and women;
28,000 talented, motivated students; and some 200,000 successful alumni
in hundreds of professions, from school principals to neurosurgeons, from
judges to environmental engineers, from executives of Fortune 500 companies
to concert cellists, and from television broadcasters to government leaders.
Through its 16 schools and colleges, Temple University offers degree programs
in 9 associate degree areas, 127 bachelors degree areas, 132 masters degree
areas, 61 doctoral degree areas, and 6 first professional degree areas.
Temple University was founded in 1884, and became a state-related institution
in the Commonwealth System of Higher Education in 1965.
